North West Karate Academy
North West Karate Academy has been teaching karate to children and adults since 1984. We offer a friendly and welcoming environment where people of all ages and abilities can learn and grow. Our academy is not just about learning martial arts; it’s about building discipline, confidence, and resilience. Over the years, we’ve produced national and international medalists, with some of our members representing the England Karate Team.
Our instructors are fully insured, DBS-checked, and regularly update their skills to ensure safe and effective training. We are members of the Karate Do Federation and the English Karate Federation, which is affiliated with the World Karate Federation—the only body recognised by the International Olympic Committee. Classes are held in safe, well-equipped venues, providing an ideal setting for everyone to train and develop their skills.
Karate for Children
Our children’s karate classes offer a fun and safe environment focused on sport karate. Training helps improve coordination, balance, focus, and confidence, while also teaching discipline and respect. Classes are engaging and age-appropriate, making it easy for children to enjoy learning while building essential skills. Parents are welcome to watch and support their child’s progress. As they advance, children can move to more challenging classes and, when ready, transition into the adult programme.
Karate for Adults
Our adult karate classes combine practical self-defence and sport karate. Training covers striking, padwork, clinching, takedowns, ground escapes, submissions, functional fitness, and kata. We follow a structured belt system that helps you track your progress and set goals. Whether you’re looking to get fit, learn self-defence, or try a new activity, our classes cater to all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners. Newcomers are always welcome to join and give it a try.
